Saturday the 14th:

10:00-4:00 pm – Apple Tasting
Farm fresh apples from Dave Hale’s Apple Farm in Sebastopol! You won’t taste them fresher or better than Dave’s apples. Romes, Jonathans, Sleeping Beauty, Jonagolds, and Spitzenbergs just to name a few! We’ll slice some so you can taste and we’ll have plenty to buy.

10:00-4:00 pm – Scarecrow Building
Enter into one of four categories: Traditional, Moana, Legos, or Team Spirit.

10:00-12:00 pm – Sheet Mulch Basics & Design
Find out how to go from lawn to garden without removing the grass! Landscape Designer Tyler Coen will demonstrate the easy, sustainable process called sheet mulching. You’ll learn how to layer cardboard, compost, and mulch right on top of the lawn and plant right into it. Sheet mulching materials break down naturally and feed your soil to provide a healthy foundation for healthier plants. Tyler will also talk about basic design elements to help you transform your landscape.

Tyler will provide valuable resource information, including lawn conversion rebates from water utilities, sheet mulch vendors, and take home materials for designing and planting a new garden

11:00 am – Bulb Layering with Greg Zollars
Here’s your chance to learn to create a beautiful pot combining beautiful flowers and bulbs! A beautiful greeter at your front door, these pots will WOW your neighbors and friends. Greg will share great information on how to do this easy project in an hour!!

We’ll have Apple Fishing for the kids and a fall craft activity to have some fun with for kids of all ages. You can also visit our hay maze and pumpkin patch to pick out your perfect pumpkin! Pumpkins in orange, blue, white and red, warty and smooth, we’ve got your orb of happiness right here!

1:00 pm – Homegrown Medicine for Boosting Fall Immunity
Teacher: Lenore Ockerberg, Community Herbalist

In this workshops, Lenore will discuss the difference between using herbs for culinary purposes vs. using them therapeutically to boost immunity. She will talk about a variety of herbal remedies you can make right at home to help boost your immune function during the Fall season. Many of the herbs she’ll discuss can easily be grown at home in your own garden.You will take home an information packet to include lots of recipes you can make at home!

Lenore is a local Herbalist and Herbal Educator with a passion for educating people about the wonderful world of herbs, nutrition, and natural healing. She completed her Foundations of Herbalism program with Ohlone Center for Herbal Studies in Berkeley, CA and her Community Clinical Herbalism program at The California School of Herbal Studies in Forestville, CA. Please join us for this fun and informative class!

Toe tapping, hand clapping, great music!! Our favorite musicians will soon become yours! Blending wonderful vocals with great guitar they are a ton of fun to listen too!

Brian will spend some time covering the perfect planting season for perennials, winter annuals, and so many cool season veggies.
