Grand Opening of Great Wolf Lodge Northern California in Manteca

By Carrie Williams July 3, 2021

This week, Great Wolf Lodge opened its 19th waterpark resort in North America in Manteca!  And only 45 minutes away from Pleasanton makes for the perfect staycation.

We’ve been driving by during construction and watched the progress with anticipation of it finally opening.  The waterpark is 95,000 feet of pure joy.  I love that it’s indoors, and the water is heated year-round to a very comfortable 84 degrees. It’s the ultimate family getaway, whether to get away from the heat in the summer or the cold of the winter. It's an indoor paradise.

The Great Wolf Lodge Northern California is complete with a lazy river, wave pool, and multiple waterslides.  Those of you who are a little on the adventurous side will enjoy the Wolf Tail, an exciting ride that drops the floor from underneath you sending you on a nearly vertical drop until you splash down at the end!  And for those with little ones, there is a zero-depth toddler pool with age-appropriate features.

Great Wolf Lodge Northern California features a slide making its Great Wolf Lodge debut called Sequoia  Splash. This multi-person raft slide starts by sending riders down a steep drop into a giant funnel, where the raft's momentum sends it careening up one side of the funnel to the next. This was my son's favorite ride and I had to chase after him several times to go back down.

One of our favorite’s though was Fort Mackenzie, a multi-level water play structure that has a 1000 gallon tipping bucket that pours every 4 minutes. Kids will love exploring this area and are guaranteed to burn up your little one’s energy! You can see my son running down the stairs in this Instagram reel to make the bucket dump!

Here’s what I love.  Admission to the waterpark is included at no extra charge as part of your overnight stay.  The rooms are beautiful, and perfect for a day unwinding after the fun-filled day at the pool.  Our favorites were the themed suites that featured log cabin-themed sleeping areas, bunk beds and just looked super cozy!

It also has 9 unique eateries designed to satisfy even the most particular eaters in the family.

  • Barnwood showcases a fresh and seasonal menu and craft cocktails in a rustic-themed setting.
  • Campfire Kitchen is an interactive à la carte cafe offering everything from farm-fresh eggs and applewood smoked bacon to mac n’ cheese and chicken fingers.
  •  Hungry as a Wolf features made-to-order handcrafted pizzas along with salads, wings, and more.
  • Buckets Incredible Craveables offers burgers, sandwiches, and the signature Tipping Bucket  Sundae.
  • The Watering Hole serves soft drinks and adult beverages in the water park.
  • Freshwoods Market is a grab-and-go marketplace.
  •  Timbers is complete with Southwest fare including tacos, nachos, soups, and salads.
  •  Dunkin’ serves delicious donuts and coffee.
  •  Wood’s End Creamery offers families a sweet indulgence in a cup or a cone.
  • Great Wolf Candy Company is a retail shop featuring bulk candy, chocolate treats, and other packaged sweets.
