I was given the opportunity to preview Skylanders Academy Season 2 on Netflix. To begin, my boys LOVE Skylanders. They have all the figurines, the games and they know all the characters by heart. So when I let them know we were going to be watching the new Skylanders Academy they went crazy!
There are two new characters introduced in Season 2, Cynder and Sprocket. The new season begins with Spyro, one of the characters from the first season, looking to find answers from the past about his ancestors to help him unlock his special powers. At the same time, Kaos (their arch rival) is on his own quest to bring evil rule to the Skylands, and it's up to the Skylanders warriors to stop him in the ultimate showdown.
One of the things that I do like about this show is that their characters each have their own special powers within - they just need to find and harness it. They just need to believe in themselves and that belief translates into a positive action. Secondly, I like that it takes a lot of teamwork to accomplish their common goals. It would be impossible to defeat their foes without leveraging all that everyone has to offer. And last, I really think its positive to create strong female characters to show our young ladies of the world that they can stand on their own. Skylanders does all three exceptionally well here.
I love how much energy these characters brings from my boys. They talk about it all the time, and it's been great for them to see how these characters have evolved in Season 2.
