Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness Day (MKAOK)

Kindness Rocks

By Carrie Williams September 11, 2017

Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness day (MKAOK) is September 16th. This is a day where Macaroni Kid publishers give back to the communities they're in and make it a better place to live.  Things like toy drives, diaper drives and other ways that both involve and improve the community.  This year, I chose to do the hugely popular kindness rocks at my children's school, Walnut Grove.

Expanding on the idea, I wanted to make it something that would last a long time and we have turned it into a kindness path.  I worked with leaders in our community, like Matt Richert at Richert Lumber Ace Hardware who donated all the rocks for the project and Sally Kraft with JBM Mortgage who donated the paint for the project and Stephany Jenkins at Venture who also donated paint in addition to our amazing PTA at Walnut Grove and our principal Mr. Connor.  Without the efforts of these people, this project would never have gotten off the ground.

The project itself consisted of each class painting rocks to form the path, with each individual rock containing a few kind words.  I can't wait to see the final results and am so glad I was able to take part in something that is going to last a long time.

What is the Kindness Project?  I thought I would share a video that explains it. Here
